UQTR end season early for Stingers

The Stingers’ season of destiny ended with a whimper last Friday, as they fell 8-2 to the defending OUA-Far East champion UQTR Patriotes in game two of the provincial championship series.
While considered the underdog, Concordia went into the series as the hottest team in the conference having won it’s last four games, including a two game series sweep of the McGill Redmen in the semi-finals the previous week.
Conversely, the Patriotes had a week and a half off to ponder their only defeat of the year, which came at the hands of the Stingers in their final regular season game, as they had a first-round bye for winning the conference with an outstanding 21-1-2 record.
It was the second year in a row that Concordia was the only team to beat UQTR, but last year the Stingers didn’t get through to the finals to see if they could do it again.
