Shattered Images Launch

Book on the Syrian Roots to Islamic Fundamentalism to Launch at Librarie Paragraphe Oct 24 7:00 pm

Award winning journalist and translator Fred Reed’s new book on the historical roots of Modern Islamic Fundamentalism ‘Shattered Images’ will be launching this Friday at Librairie Paragraphe 2220 McGill College Avenue. Fred will be introduced by Gilles Gougeon and will speak to some of the topics covered in this book. ‘Shattered Images’ is both an amazing travelogue of modern Syria, a country few have written about authoritatively in North America as well as a political and historical guide to the Assad regime. It also looks at the roots of the Baath party in both Syria and Iraq and most importantly presents a fascinating scholarly meditation on the historical, cultural and philosophical roots to modern Islamic Fundamentalism that lies in Syria’s iconoclastic past. You are invited to join us at the bookstore to talk to author, discuss the issues and enjoy some Middle Eastern refreshments.
