Wrestlers going National

Seven members of the Concordia Stingers wrestling team won their weight classes at the AUS/QSSF qualifying tournament hosted by the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton on February 18.
Tyler Marghetis, David Zilberman, Tim Wadsworth, Tony Ronci, James Mancini, Sergei Guevorkian and Jonathan Rioux will represent Concordia at the National Championships at Brock University starting on Friday.

This week at Concordia

The only game in town this week is the men’s basketball QUBL semi-final against the UQAM Citadins on Friday at Loyola Gym. The game starts at 7 p.m.
As noted, the CIS Wrestling National championships will be held this Friday and Saturday at Brock University.

Women’s basketball all-stars

Two of the three Stinger co-captains, Melanie Larocque and Emilie Ruel, were named to the QUBL Second All-Star Team. They were the only two Stingers honoured in the annual awards.
The Stingers failed to qualify for the playoffs after a 1-15 Conference record.

Ottawa a no-go in Quebec

Attempts by the University of Ottawa to get its basketball teams into the Quebec University Basketball League from the Ontario University Athletics Conference have been denied by the Canadian University Sport governing body. Ottawa already has rugby, women’s hockey and baseball teams in the Quebec conference.
