More good news for football Stingers

Pat Donovan will get a chance to defend his President’s Trophy for best defensive player in the CIS. Donovan was named the QUFL’s best defensive player, and therefore will get a chance to win the award against the nominees from the other conferences.

Nick Scissons was also named an awards finalist, as the Q’s Russ Jackson Award nominee. The Russ Jackson Award is given out to the student-athlete who excelled in academics and made a significant contribution to his community, all the while significantly contributing on the football field as well.

All-Stars and All-Canadians

The women’s soccer team had two players named to the 2nd all-star team: midfielder Melanie Poirier and defender Erica Geertsen.

Sydney Theriault of the women’s rugby team was named an all-Canadian.

Athletes of the Week

Rose Healy of the women’s hockey team and Trevor Blanchard of the men’s hockey team were named Concordia’s athletes of the week. Healy scored two goals and was solid defensively in her team’s 4-3 loss against Carleton on Sunday.

Blanchard had two goals and two assists in two games over the weekend, a win against Ryerson and a loss against Toronto.

The CSU is organizing busses to travel from Concordia to Quebec City for the Dunsmore Cup. For $5, you get a game ticket and a ride.The busses will be leaving at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
