In case you just lost your house to Loto-Quebec

In response to the city’s high demand for affordable housing, the Department of Municipal Affairs announced plans to build 1,000 new social housing units in Montreal as part of the $132 million investment for 2,000 units, announced at the 2008-2009 budget. Despite a gradual decrease in the shortage of social housing since 2000, the province admits that more units have to be built in order to alleviate some of the problems facing the underprivileged in Quebec, Minister Nathalie Normandeau said in a statement.

A Laval bus driver had enough of passengers asking to get off between stops on Wednesday. After getting into a heated argument with several passengers, he decided to give up and go home. The passengers eventually did make it to their destination, two and-a-half hours late. Laval police are still considering whether to lay charges. The incident is reminiscent of one in Toronto earlier this month, when a bus driver abandoned his bus, full of passengers at a busy intersection, crossed the street and got on a bus going the opposite direction.
