Team “purple” sweeps ASFA, but few voted

Leah Del Vecchio will be president of the Arts and Sciences Federation of Associations next year, as all members of the purple team were elected. But less than six per cent of eligible voters cast ballots – just under 1,000 of the 17,000 students in the faculty of arts and science.
Del Vecchio received 350 votes, beating Anna Goldfinch of the yellow team, by 57 votes. Also elected were Audrey Depault as vp finance; Heather Lucas as vp internal; and Amir Seth as vp social. Adrien Severyns, Dane Perrera, and Arndell LeBlanc, who all ran unopposed, were also elected in yes/no ballots. They will take the positions of vp external; vp academic and vp communication, respectively.
Elected to the position of independent councillor were Aaron Green and Stephanie Siriwardhara of the purple team and Gabriella Foglia of the yellow team.
As well a bylaw change, to promote sustainability; clean up the grammar of the organization’s bylaws; and postpone the first council meeting of the fall also passed.
Departmental student associations appoint the rest of ASFA council.
