Ultra-Orthodox protest alleged abuse

by Archives September 15, 2009

More than 100 ultra-Orthodox Jews took to the streets of Montreal Tuesday to protest the alleged abuse of Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem. “They are forcing bloodshed, and forcing us not to keep the Torah,” said protester Moishe Fisher. ” Let the world know we don’t want the existence of Zionism, and we want the dismantlement of the State of Israel.” The demonstration was organized by the Central Rabbinical Congress of the United States and Canada, a Jewish anti-Zionist organization. Despite the efforts of protesters, the Israeli Consulate said it would continue to stand behind the Israeli police force. “We reiterate our full confidence in our law enforcement officials and condemn all forms of civilian protest that use violence,” the consulate said in a statement.
