?Revenue-generating? dome is up and ready for action

The big grey dome looming on the white fields at Loyola has been put to good use. Concordia’s Stinger Dome, erected in November 2009, saw its first real activity last month, when the Club Montreal Soccer League and Outremont Soccer went head to head. The Stinger Dome, an air-supported structure that measures 450 by 240 feet, will host different community groups and sports leagues.
The space can be set up to accommodate four mini-fields, and it can also provide a field for many sports, including soccer, rugby, football and ultimate frisbee. Renting a quarter of the field will set you back $100 to $150 an hour; at the most $400 or $600 an hour for the full field. Anyone up for a giant game of Red Rover? You can check out the Dome online from the vantage point of two cameras – click the link at athletics.concordia.ca/stingerdome.html.
