Hockey star gives back to Slovakian hometown

Almost 2,000 years ago, under the reign of the Roman Empire, a small town named Laugaricio was founded in Slovakia, the very heart of Europe. In the middle of it stands a beautiful castle, which used to be the seat of oligarchs. But only 15 minutes away from the Bell Centre is Étienne Desmarteau arena, home of the Canadian Women's Hockey League's Montreal Stars. Their roster boasts World Champions and Olympic medallists, and amongst the players are six who cite Concordia University as their alma mater.

Martlets relentless against Lady Bees

The Concordia Stingers were in tough for their playoff meeting against the number three ranked team in the nation and also Quebec champions McGill Marlets. But eventually came up on the short end of a 3-0 defeat. Concordia was led into battle with All-Stars captain Melanie Poirier, Erica Geersteen and Skye Moseley.
