Men’s B-ball clinch homecourt advantage

Dilip Nayar does not know why his teammates call him Diesel. Some state the obvious and liken him to an eighteen-wheeler unable to hit the brakes. To Stinger fans, it might be the unstoppable fifth or sixth gear he slides into once he gets inside the opponents’ key.

What is certain is that when Nayar is down low, number to number, he is tough to defend. Nayar’s 21 points against the Bishop’s Gaiters on Feb. 14 is what got the Stingers moving on that night as they rumbled to a 68-53 win.

“Dilip is improving with every game,” Head Coach John Dore explained. “He still doesn’t know just how good he can be.”

“I know I can score like that,” Nayar said, who tried to cushion the importance of his performance by referring to the ‘its just one game’ answer. Nayar does have the right answer though. “In the past games I have found myself in foul trouble and it is difficult to play from the bench. Tonight I just held my ground and of course I may gotten away with one or two.”
