Stingers on fire against Mounties

The Concordia Stingers’ football team completely obliterated Mount Allison this past Saturday in a 44-10 road win.

A dominant first half performance by Jon Bond and company left the Stingers with a 35-3 halftime lead.

This gave Stinger Coach Gerry McGrath an opportunity to use many of his back-up players. Bond, who finished 10-23, was even replaced by back-up quarterback Scott Cyvrette who closed out relatively strong against the weaker Mount Allison team.

“Our skilled players were better than their skilled players,” McGrath said later. “I was confident about the game but no team is easy. We still had to work hard.”

The team finished with over 200 yards rushing and 485 total offensive yards.

Jean-Michel Paquette was one of a few solid offensive contributors chipping in with over 100 offensive yards.

Other big producers were Alain Rousseau and Carlton O’Brien who both collected over 100 offensive yards.
