Court Appointed Special Advocates

(For your information only) We aare hoping a representative from the Concordian can be in attendance as the first group of trained volunteers from the 15th Judicial Circuit CASA are sworn in by the Honorable Dennis A. Rolf, Presiding Juvenile Judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit. The ceremony will take place Oct 27th (Monday)at 3:30 p.m. at the Saline County Courthouse.

This is a national organization that provides volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children in court, and commits to be a consistent presence in the child’s life until a safe, permanent, and nurturing home is achieved.

You may gather more information at this website:
www.nationalcasa.org. Please call Stacie Arends, 886-5779 [email protected] for background information on CASA. The goal next year is to extend into Lafayette County and provide a group of trained volunteers for advocacy for children.

This is a quite interesting story. It started from a grassroots effort with only a handful of concerned citizens who cared about children.
