ConU steps up security for speakers

Concordia University will continue to ask certain high-profile guests to speak off-campus, despite the implementation of new measures that will secure on-campus venues.

The decision came after the university’s administration, along with the help of outside security experts, reevaluated Concordia’s security policies. Changes are slated to begin immediately, and the university has already begun identifying locations on both the SGW and Loyola campuses that would best fit their new criteria. According to Dr. Dennis Murphy, Concordia’s Executive Director in University Communications, Loyola’s arena is one venue that is currently being examined.

“New measures will be put in place when they start taking care of the arena,” Murphy said.
