The ladies of the Montreal Council of Women (MCW) were all ears on Feb. 16, as long-time Gazette reporter Susan Schwartz explored the inevitability of aging.
She discussed aging among women writers through humorous and at times reality-biting quotes from her favorite authors.
“Honor thy wrinkles,” she said. “You can’t outsmart the forces of catastrophe,” Schwartz said, as many of the 40 members in attendance grinned understandingly at one another.
Schwartz spoke about “Getting over Getting older” at Les Jardins du Canal as part of the MCW’s monthly meeting.
“How do you write in real old age when you didn’t write before?,” asked 84-year-old Susie Raphaels.
