But for the past year or so, Krief has been thinking about giving it all up to write and perform his own music, a dream he had long before he joined The Dears.

Tragedy turns to triumph

They said it would rain that day, but there were hardly any clouds in sight. They said he might never walk again, doubted he would be anything more than a vegetable. But on this day, he was about to compete in a triathlon. Muscular and spandex clad, with the number 1129 written in black marker on his arm and leg, Concordia student Enrico Quilico looked like all the other Spirit triathlon participants on this sunny September afternoon.
