Concordia struggles out of the gates

After a week-long rest following their whirlwind tour of Germany, the Concordia men’s hockey team was back to business as usual this past weekend, taking on conference-rivals McGill on Friday night and UQTR on Sunday afternoon.

The McGill game was a high-flying, intensely emotional effort, being their first game back after the break. They were able to hold McGill to a 1-1 tie going into the third, however, were vanquished by the Redmen 3-1. Sunday saw a bunch of bodies missing, and any time you don’t bring your A-game to battle the Patriots, it proves costly and the Stingers lost again, by a score of 6-0.

Friday night, the Stingers played to a packed house at McConnell arena, filled with the usual slobbering frat boys and scantily clad first-year girls. Starting goalie, Pat Lepage was back in net after coming off an injury, and the league’s number one goaltender, Mathieu Poitras was between the pipes for McGill.
