Patriotes capitalize on Stinger penalties

Close, but no cigar. That was the tune the Stingers were singing after a disappointing 3-2 loss to reigning conference champion UQTR Patriotes last Friday night.

After a home-ice loss just a few short weeks ago against the pats by a score of 6-0, the Stingers were showing a wealth of improvement, but nowhere near enough to beat the skillful UQTR team.

The game began well, and the Stingers were able to keep the high-flying Pats off the board until 14:21 of the first when Jonathan Boutin beat Pat Lepage with a high wrist shot, drawing assists from Mathieu Gravel and Tommy Lafontaine.

The Stingers started the second with a five-on-three advantage and sophmore Bruno Champagne beat the second best goalie in the league, Dany Dallaire with help from rookies Phil Seguin and Karl Gagn
