Racism-free zones

The 7th edition of the Action Week Against Racism (AWAR) officially kicked off last Friday. Every year Montreal plays host to the event, designed to prevent and combat racism and to promote ties between different ethnic communities through the arts.

From March 16 to 26, different workshops, films, and expositions denouncing racism will be held throughout the city.

This year marks an important evolution for AWAR. For the first time, it will take on an international dimension by being held simultaneously in Montreal, Quebec City, Geneva and Brussels.

This year’s theme, “Racism-Free Zones,” challenges cities to create spaces of tolerance and respect. Montreal Mayor G
