Stingers head coach McGrath named QUFL Coach of the Year

Concordia football coach Gerry McGrath was chosen yesterday as the Quebec University Football League coach of the year.

McGrath led Concordia to a 6-2 season and a match-up with the Laval Rouge et Or in the Dunsmore Cup last Saturday, which ultimately ended ConU’s season.

The Stingers started the season outside of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport’s top-10, but gained respect across Canada to be ranked as high as fourth in the country before ending the season as no. 6.

McGrath is now the Quebec conference’s nominee for the Frank Tindall Trophy which is given to the top coach in Canada.

That award will be given out during Vanier Cup festivities in Saskatoon next week.

McGrath is in his seventh season as head coach of the Stingers.
