Stingers point guard Damian Buckley returned to the line up last Friday at UQAM for his first game of 2007, helping Concordia to a 92-70 win.
Buckley missed the previous four games, serving an academics-related suspension.
During the suspension many Stingers found themselves playing out of position as they tried to fill the void, but with Buckley’s return the offence seems back on track.
Benjamin Sormonte had a season-high 26 points in Friday’s win, including six three-pointers. Sormonte is the Stingers most efficient shooter, but during Buckley’s suspension, the fifth-year senior found himself playing point guard, primarily distributing the ball, rather than shooting it.
Buckley played 31 minutes in his return, collecting nine points and five assists.
With the win Concordia improves to 9-1 on the season.
They’re in Lennoxville this Friday night to face the 3-7 Bishop’s Gaiters.
