Men’s hockey: Corey Cup

The boys of winter have arrived and they’re playing university rivals McGill at the Bell Centre on Sunday. The Corey Cup has been taking place annually since 1988. It gives fans and players a taste of an NHL setting for a much more reasonable price. More importantly, it gives the Stingers a chance to battle the Redmen.

“Every time we play McGill, it’s always a step up because they’re our cross-town rivals,” Captain Trevor Blanchard said. “It’s something that we look forward to every year.”
But playing their rivals at the Bell Centre makes things that much more special.”Any time you have the chance to step onto an NHL ice surface, especially the Montreal Canadiens’ facility, it’s awesome,” he said. Having spent several weeks in an NHL training camp, Blanchard still insists that its always a treat. “The guys are really excited for it,” he said.
The game starts at 3:00pm on Sunday. Tickets are $10 and can be bought in advance with a credit card by calling 514.848.2424 ext. 3898.
