Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla was in on The Con with Tegan and Sara

“I don’t know where to start,” answered Tegan and Sara producer Chris Walla.
Walla, best known as Death Cab for Cutie guitarist/producer, is talking about the origins of Tegan and Sara’s latest album The Con.
“I remember telling the twins: ‘don’t be afraid of anything. You could do whatever you want and it would work.'”
Something must have worked out in the process, since The Con fueled a world tour of sold-out dates and is now nominated for Alternative Album of the Year, making this Tegan & Sara’s third Juno nomination.
“Being south of the border, the Juno Awards have always been a little bit of a mystery to me,” the producer admitted. “But I’m excited and I know Tegan and Sara are really excited.”
Chris Walla has more than the album’s nomination to be thrilled about. Walla just released his own solo debut, Field Manual, while the sisters revel in The Con’s success and will continue touring well on into the summer.
“Tegan and Sara deserve the success,” Walla affirmed.
The alliance between Chris Walla and the Quin sisters has left each party feeling rewarded, nomination or not.
“They’ve become some of my best friends in the course of making this record,” Walla shared. “Now it’s hard to imagine my life without them. Tegan and Sara are absolutely great. I’m thankful.”
