Since their start in 2002, indie rock band Wintersleep from Halifax has been passing under the radar. Until this year.
Wintersleep’s third album, Welcome to the Night Sky, was a wakeup call across the country. In less than a year, the four-piece band won a Juno Award, a MuchMusic Video Award, and their profile is still on the rise. “We’re as surprised as anyone else,” guitartist Tim D’Eon modestly said. “But it’s so great to finally get this recognition and support in our homeland.”
Wintersleep plays their part in the POP Montreal festival before heading south of the border for the American leg of their tour.
Music being a touring essential, Tim D’Eon skims his iPod for songs that have been on the soundtrack of their travels.
Wintersleep play Le National Friday, Oct. 3.
