Boogat, Buddy McNeil & The Magic Mirrors, Charlie Foxtrot, Dance Laury Dance, Dead Messenger, Géraldine et les Gamiq Jean, Half Moon Run, Meta Gruau and The Nils all performed during the awards ceremony that recognizes “the best” indie musicians in Quebec.
What makes the GAMIQs different from most other award ceremonies, is that musicians will be disqualified if their music reaches the Top 50 BDS Francophone or Anglophone or if they’ve already been nominated at the Gala de l’ADISQ in the Interprète féminine de l’année, Interprète masculin de l’année or Groupe de l’année categories, or if they’ve already won the Félix in the Révélation de l’année category.
The Barr Brothers, who were featured in the Oct. 18 issue of the Concordian, won in the “New Artist With The Most Potential” category.
We’ve compiled a short-list of winners here. The full list of award winners can be found on the GAMIQ website.
