On Saturday, March 17 a march commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Syrian revolution was held that began at Norman Bethune Square at the corner of de Maisonneuve Boulevard and Guy Street and ended at Phillips Square. Approximately 800 people were in attendance for the afternoon march. The demonstration was peaceful and participants chanted and held signs. At the March 14 Concordia Student Union council meeting, a motion was passed that expressed solidarity with Syria ahead of the one-year anniversary. Several students were in attendance at Saturday’s march, alongside people ranging from toddlers to grandparents, making the atmosphere of the event positive and hopeful.
