In Photos: March 28th protest against austerity and oil economy

Protest ends peacefully by joining anti-PEGIDA islamophobic protest.

[UPDATED. 19:30 EDT] Several thousand protestors gathered at place Emilie-Gamelin on Saturday, March 28th. They marched against the oil economy and austerity measures. They headed north through the Mile end and into Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie. It is in Rosemont that the protestors started to dwindle and leave. A fraction of the group did stay strong and ended the protest peacefully once it joined the anti-PEGIDA protest.

Correction: An earlier version of this piece on our website and on our social media accounts mention that Saturday’s demonstration was against tar sands. The details have been clarified.
