The worldwide trek is set for 2025.
On Aug. 27, Oasis announced their 2025 reunion tour online. The announcement came days before the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe, the band’s second best selling album in the US and UK.
Oasis was a hugely popular rock band in the 1990s. They were most well-known in the UK, but are well-loved across the pond (who hasn’t heard “Wonderwall?”). The band’s members were brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, along with Paul Arthurs, Tony McCaroll, and Paul McGuigan.
The news sparked controversy online, with many fans taking to social media to express their skepticism of the brothers’ sudden reconciliation. Their infamous feud had recently engulfed the story of Oasis.
“As a non-Oasis fan who had to grow up in the UK in the 90s, at least I’ll be spared any disappointment when the tour is inevitably cancelled due to Liam and Noel not being able to be in the same room together for more than 5 minutes,” wrote one commenter on Reddit.
In a 1994 NME interview that gave the public a glimpse into their troubled relationship, the brothers argued about the band’s image. Liam wanted to be a rockstar, while Noel was troubled by the band’s unfavourable reputation. A clip shows them refusing each other’s right to speak, instead talking over each other and interviewer John Harris.
However, the brothers were never entirely against a reunion. “I think he needs to do his solo thing first and realise he’s not that good without his brother,” said Liam Gallagher in a 2011 Guardian article. “He’s got to find out for himself. I’m up for it – I’m not desperate for it.”
In the same interview, Liam Gallagher mentions Beady Eye, a spinoff of Oasis made up of himself and former members of Oasis Andy Bell and Gem Archer. They ultimately split up, as revealed by the frontman in a tweet in October 2014: “Beady Eye are no longer. Thanks for all your support.”
The disbandment came just one year before the 20th anniversary of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, leading fans to initially believe an Oasis reunion tour would be on the way in 2015. Noel Gallagher shot down the rumours in a later piece by NME.
Tour dates have only been announced in the UK and Ireland for now. Ticket sales have been hectic, with prices only increasing with demand. The lowest-priced tickets on viagogo were over $1,000.
