Imagine having to pack up one day, bid farewell to your friends, to your family, to your country, to everything you’ve loved and cherished. Imagine having to leave, to emigrate and to never look back.
Pierre Sidaoui, 45, experienced this twice, emigrating in 1982 from Lebanon to Mexico and then to Canada. He took the experience further and poured his memories into a touching movie, A Scent of Mint. The documentary was produced by the National Film Board (NFB) and directed by Sidaoui. It was screened last Friday at the NFB Cinema on St-Denis St., as a part of the Montreal Matters program and was viewed by an audience of more than thirty.
