Before Martin Scorsese was given a 100 million dollars to direct Gangs of New York, he was making startling short films like The Big Shave with literally no funding whatsoever. With their low-budgets and potential to catch the attention of financiers, ‘shorts’ have often been a way for promising young directors to break into the competitive movie biz. Some of the Scorseses of tomorrow will have their short films playing this Tuesday as part of the fourth annual Prends
