Written and directed by French filmmaker Vincent Garenq, Comme les autres (released in English as Baby Love) tells the story of Manu (Lambert Wilson, best known as The Merovingian from the Matrix films), a pediatrist who feels the urge to have a baby of his own. There is only one complication: his loving boyfriend Philippe (Pascal Elbé) absolutely refuses, and they break up. On his quest to become a father, Manu meets Fina (Pilar Lopez de Ayala), an Argentinian girl to whom he proposes a “white wedding,” both for residency purposes and so that she can be the surrogate mother. Unfortunately for Manu, things are never quite as simple as they seem. He will need to figure out what he truly wants for his life and his potential child.
