The Montreal Coalition for Healthy Teeth is attempting to swim its way to the top of Quebec’s water fluoridation issue.
For years, the coalition has been going from city to city to encourage councils to respond to what they call a “dental epidemic.” Montreal still remains the last North American city of its size not to fluoridate its water on a large scale.
The president of the Montreal Coalition for Healthy Teeth, Dr. Stéphane Schwartz, said the organization has attempted to surface the issue in the past with communities such as Laval. While they have struggled to gain the Quebec government’s support, Dr. Schwartz said people in various communities who share the frustration support the coalition.
